loaders

On the way back from the walk this morning I went in back through the alley. I like using the fob VOOMP the whole door flies open better than any Star Trek door ever opened. But today a truck was there and the door already opened, a man was standing there smoking a cigarette and watching the men working, he quipped as I passed, "And it isn't even Friday." A non-sequiter that left the men working with no natural rejoinder the worker said, "humph" then pulled his trolly up the steep and tall ramp backward, impressively, I've never seen anything like it and he was back in the garage passing me by. I said, "I saw you jerk that box up that ramp." He said, "Yeah."

Both men passed by coming and going three times, both men were eager to engage conversationally as they could as they passed, they never stopped working, but were still eager to talk. Their work was splendidly athletic. I said so. They acknowledged the truth of it. They liked that being recognized. They were giving themselves a real workout.

By stark contrast they didn't say boo kiss my butt to the guy who tried to engage them. They just flat did not appreciate a guy standing there watching them.

Wait...there is a new poll....the election is over....Right!

Idaho Sex Assault: Child Victim Trapped As Refugee Assailant Still Lives Next Door

Breitbart News June 30. 2016 By Katie McHugh

The five-year-old girl victimized in a sex attack by Sudanese and Iraqi refugee boys in Twin Falls, Idaho, is too terrified to leave her home, partly because one of her attackers still lives next door, according to a civic volunteer who is working with the victim’s family.

On June 2, a 14-year-old Sudanese refugee in Idaho coached a 10-year-old Sudanese and a seven-year-old Iraqi boy as they cornered the child in the laundry room of Fawnbrooks Apartments, stripped her naked, touched her, and urinated in her mouth and on her clothes. The 14-year-old filmed the vicious attack until an elderly woman intervened.

CNN assigns #Brexit blame

“Listen…the reason people voted, the majority of them, and I can play you what was said, was to stop immigration into this country,” she said, as Hannan continued to insist that he himself had not backtracked on his comments, pointing out that he had written a book advocating reasons to vote Leave but hadn’t actually said what she accused him of saying.
Amanpour pressed on. “Would you agree then that the Leave campaign’s main objective, in terms of sovereignty, was to stop the free movement [of people]?”
Hannah grinned in obvious disbelief, and asked Amanpour to retract the accusation of backtracking. She refused.
“Then people at home can Google this, they can look at what I’ve said, and they can see whether it is fair for you to accuse me of having done a U-turn,” Hannan said, as Amanpour continued to talk over him.

Hillary Clinton cannot escape her own bio

Hillary spoke at PUSH convention. Mike Fourcher posted on Twitter a program for the convention containing a bio for Hillary Clinton. This is why I love millennials,  I'm assuming here this is a millennial because it has the millennial hallmark. Somebody told this campaign person (assumed millennial) to provide a bio on Hillary for the program, so they did, they copy and pasted from Wikipedia and without reading the whole thing and without knowing where to stop copy/pasting they included the uncomfortable bits best left unsaid on such a program. So her bio for the event that everybody has in their hands when she's speaking turns out uncomfortably honest. If they bother to read it.

Besides all that it is an impressive bio, I have to admit this.

The program will not show very well here. Follow the link above if you care to see it. The page is her picture above with wikipedia description below. The part that's hilarious for bio like this reads:
As First Lady of the United States, Clinton led the failed effort to enact the Clinton health plan of 1993. In 1997 and 1999, she helped create programs for children's health insurance, adoption, and foster care. The only first lady to have been subpoenaed, she faced a federal grand jury in 1996 regarding the Whitewater controversy; no charges were brought against her related to this or any other controversies in her life. Her marriage endured the Lewinsky scandal of 1998, and overall her role as first lady drew a polarized response from the public.
You were supposed to stop c/p before this paragraph! Except nobody proofread. They just trusted a young person. This is something a young person does. It's why we love them so.

It's all very funny but some people are not amused. From Mike Fourcher's thread:

"GOP Benghazi Report Includes 15 Questions Not Answered by President Obama"

CNS News:   According to Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, "the President is uniquely situated to answer these questions. In fact, he is the only person who can answer some of these questions."

1. The White House issued a readout of your meeting with senior administration officials on September 10, 2012, indicating “specific measures” had been taken to “prevent 9/11 related attacks.” What were these specific measures, and how did these specific measures differ from specific measures taken on prior anniversaries of September 11?

2. When did you first learn a U.S. facility in Benghazi, Libya, had been attacked? What were you told, and by whom? Were you informed Sean Smith had been killed during the initial attack?

3. What orders or direction, if any, did you give to Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta upon learning of the initial attack? Did you or anyone at your direction ever modify, withdraw, alter, or amplify the initial orders or direction you gave to Secretary Panetta?

4. What were you told about Department of Defense assets in the region that could respond specifically to Benghazi? Did you ask for or receive a list of military or paramilitary assets in the region that could respond to Benghazi during the pendency of the attacks?

5. Were you subsequently kept informed about the initial attack, subsequent attacks, and/or efforts to either send military assistance or evacuate U.S. personnel? By whom?

6. When did you learn Ambassador Christopher Stevens was missing, and who informed you? Were you kept informed on efforts to locate Ambassador Stevens, and if so, by whom? When did you learn Ambassador Stevens was dead, and who informed you?

7. [Classified]

8. Were you aware that prior to any military asset moving to respond to the attacks the State Department expressed concerns to the White House about the number of military assets going into Libya?

9. When did you learn of a mortar attack that killed Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty? Who informed you?

10. Were you aware of any efforts by White House and Department of Defense officials during the evening of September 11, 2012, and into the early morning hours of September 12, 2012, to reach out to YouTube and Terry Jones regarding an anti-Muslim video? What specifically connected the attacks in Benghazi to this anti-Muslim [sic] video, and why weren’t these efforts made after the protests in Cairo, Egypt?

11. When did you learn individuals associated with terrorist organizations participated in the attack on the U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya?

12. Did you receive the President’s Daily Brief (PDB) on September 12, 2012 and September 13, 2012? If so, who provided you with the PDB?

13. Have you ever viewed surveillance footage from the cameras (or other sources) located at the U.S. facilities in Benghazi depicting the attacks? Will you declassify this footage so the American people can see for themselves what transpired?

14. Did you authorize a covert action or covert operation to provide lethal assistance to Libyan rebels?

15. [Classified]

The Republican report notes that, "Despite the Secretary of Defense’s clear directive and his intention that (rescue) forces would move and move quickly," nothing happened for many hours.

"Over 13 hours after the attack began, the first force -- the farthest away [in Rota, Spain] -- deployed. It would take nearly 18 hours for the FAST team [Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team] to move, and over 20 hours from the beginning of the attack before the CIF (another available military asset) moved."

President Obama went to a fundraiser in Las Vegas the day after the Benghazi attack.

"Russia to release Clinton emails?"

Washington TimesU.S. intelligence agencies are said to be closely watching Russian online blogs and other postings for any signs that Moscow hackers have covertly obtained the bulk of Hillary Clinton’s email messages stolen from her private email server and are preparing to make them public.

A U.S. intelligence official told Inside the Ring that the indications of the email release are being closely watched, although the veracity of at least two postings on the matter could not be confirmed as authoritative.

A State Department official has said Russia is one of at least three foreign governments likely to have obtained the full content of the former secretary of state’s server through covert hacking operations. The other two are China and Israel.

The Science behind your awful garlic breath you dirty whore

Thank science for bad breath and smelly flatulence.
Author Andy Brunning uses chemistry to explain common reactions to our favorite foods in his new book, “Why Does Asparagus Make Your Pee Smell?” (Ulysses Press, out now).
Here, the elementary school teacher digs into asparagus, orange juice and more.

Why does garlic give you bad breath?

When you consume a garlic clove, it releases an enzyme called allyl methyl sulfide, which contributes to garlic’s aroma and its “garlic breath effect” that can last up to 24 hours. Brunning recommends lemon juice, which neutralizes the odor-causing enzymes, to fend off stink. The only ethnic proven to be immune to this oder is of course Arabs as garlic is one of the main ingredients in their cuisine which explains both the absence of vampires in the Middle East and the relationship between Hillary Clinton and Huma Wiener.

"Loretta Lynch, Bill Clinton meet privately in Phoenix"

ABC15Amid an ongoing investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of email and hours before the public release of the Benghazi report, US Attorney General Loretta Lynch met privately with former President Bill Clinton.

The private meeting took place on the west side of Sky Harbor International Airport on board a parked private plane.

Sources say the private meeting at the airport lasted around 30 minutes.

"There was no discussion on any matter pending before the Department or any matter pending with any other body, there was no discussion of Benghazi, no discussion of State Department emails, by way of example I would say it was current news of the day, the Brexit decision and what it would mean."

"I'm a young black professional male from the hood, how can I feel more comfortable around whites?"

QuoraI do not know any whites in my personal life. I feel out of touch or unable to relate with them during conversations. Professionally, we are on the same page, but socially it is difficult to communicate with them effectively.
Identity would seem to be the garment with which one covers the nakedness of the self: in which case, it is best that the garment be loose, a little like the robes of the desert, through which one's nakedness can always be felt, and, sometimes, discerned. This trust in one's nakedness is all that gives one the power to change one's robes.
Ground Rules:
You have to know with absolute confidence that there are whitefolks who would fight and die for you, more than anybody you ever met in your life....
Here’s my primary advice:
1. Don’t make work the focal point of your experiments in social relations....
2. The world is never going to fully understand your black world. That includes me....
3. Every business culture is different....
And finally,
4. Be prepared to deal with the end of your blackness....

Cross-country trip highlights, drone video

by Rob Cantor.

It's hard to believe how the drone holds so steady in gusty wind. The wind was quite strong on the ridge especially at the spot where it was launched at the flat cut into the ridge for the U turn, at the exact beginning of this video, yet the drone hangs in air without being jostled. I asked Rob about that and he told me the drone communicates with eleven satellites to hold its place. That did not explain how the drone avoids moving even an inch. Not jostled around at all. No corrections show. Its blades must behave as gyroscopes holding it in place. The drone returns to its base when power becomes low. And it has a fine camera too. The launching spot is where the two baby rattlesnakes were spotted causing some excitement at the top.

Quinnipiac: Clinton-Trump Race Too Close To Call

QuinnipiacDemocrat Hillary Clinton has 42 percent to Republican Donald Trump's 40 percent - too close to call - as American voters say neither candidate would be a good president and that the campaign has increased hatred and prejudice in the nation, according to a Quinnipiac University National poll released today.

This compares to results of a June 1 national poll by the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN- uh-pe-ack) University, showing Clinton edging Trump 45 - 41 percent.

American voters are deeply divided along gender, racial, age and party lines. Women back Clinton 50 - 33 percent while men back Trump 47 - 34 percent.

White voters back Trump 47 - 34 percent. Black voters back Clinton 91 - 1 percent and Hispanic voters back her 50 - 33 percent. Voters 18 to 34 years old go Democratic 48 - 23 percent, while voters over 65 years old go Republican 51 - 35 percent.

Democrats go to Clinton 89 - 3 percent, as Republicans go to Trump 84 - 6 percent. Independent voters are divided with 36 percent for Trump and 34 percent for Clinton.

Both top candidates get negative favorability ratings, 34 - 57 percent for Trump and 37 - 57 percent for Clinton.

VFW Post #1

The very first VFW post is in Denver.  I did not know that.

I learned this today from searching [denver news] in Twitter after being notified of a shooting here today. 2hus For Liberty, if you're interested, on Twitter identifies a notorious white nationalist as the shooter of a woman, now in critical condition, and himself, now dead.

While exploring this new link, Denver news on Twitter, I noticed something else down the line as the breaking news changes to other items and that turns out to be interesting too and a lot more happy than this shooting, the story not only of the first VFW but also the first with a gay VFW commander. Two stories in one. (Three counting the unrelated shooting.)

The link goes to channel 9 News, an obnoxious site that wants you to see other things first and puts things in your way, but aside from the site's JAVA the video is very nice thing to see once they give it to you. It is a good coverage of a good angle to a pleasant and good and happy event.

The story of course is about how great it is for the military to finally acknowledge openly there are gay people serving. The angle is about the policy of DADT being abolished. The man, John Harry, can hardly contain his emotion describing his VFW post making him commander by his service to this country and not because of any kind of idle virtue signaling either, because of his service, his tours, and this parade that puts his whole life in new perspective is moving. It is a fine video.

I nicked some screenshots.

So where is this VFW post #1, anyway? The ones I know of have very large numbers like 7945 and  2461 and 501, Of all the VFW talk that I heard, my own mum was involved, they're real big on handing out jewelry pins with their logo so Mum had dozens of those, I never did hear about VFW #1, never even thought about it.

 841 Santa Fe Dr.

Holy cow that's close. I can walk there easily.

I ought to go in for a drink. A Pepsi cola. Google Earth shows the place looks like this:

Oh boy.

It was a Tuesday at V.F.W. Post 1: yoga night. Wednesday is meditation. Friday is photography class — unless it is open gallery night, when hundreds of civilians peruse veteran artwork while a D.J. spins records. The post hosts a monthly film series. And meetings often have as many backward ball caps as V.F.W. hats.
Do not come expecting a bar. There is none.
What? I thought that was essential.
“We didn’t want a dark dive bar,” said the senior vice commander of the post, Brittany Bartges, a 29-year-old veteran of the Iraq war. “We wanted a healing place where veterans could come together and bring their families.”
By abandoning the traditional model of a dim, members-only tavern in favor of a bright gallery space, Iraq and Afghanistan veterans in Denver have transformed the V.F.W.’s oldest post into one of its youngest.
Once a dying post like many others, Post 1 began recruiting aggressively among veterans at nearby colleges and threw open the doors, welcoming other veterans’ groups to use the building. It is now a hub for volunteering, exercise and art, where the focus is on camaraderie and community service. And the membership is thriving. Before, some meetings drew only five people. Now, more than 40 regularly attend.
Post members say they hope to create a model for attracting young veterans that could be adopted across the country. And just in time for the 116-year-old V.F.W. The nationwide network has lost more than 500,000 members in the last decade, tracing the declining number of veterans from World War II and Korea. More than 1,000 posts have closed. The average age of its 1.3 million members is now 68.
Young veterans have shown little interest in joining. Only about 15 percent of eligible Iraq and Afghanistan veterans are members.

America's Economic Independence Day!

Remarks by Donald Trump today in Monessen, PA (full text here)

Declaring America's Economic Independence
It is great to be here. I'd like to thank Alumisource and all the amazing workers here for hosting us.
Today, I am going to talk about how to Make America Wealthy Again.
We are thirty miles from Steel City. Pittsburgh played a central role in building our nation.
The legacy of Pennsylvania steelworkers lives in the bridges, railways and skyscrapers that make up our great American landscape.
But our workers' loyalty was repaid with betrayal.

Elizabeth Warren.

educator said in comments:
PS I note Cacklepants is test-flying Fauxcahontas with a new slogan - Stronger Together - so she isn't Fighting For Us anymore.
I sense it means 2 things - she found out she wasn't "woman" enough for the woman's vote and she expects to go down - either for physical or legal reasons - possibly before the convention.
[elizabeth warren, hillary clinton]
And so on.

Trump has a lot to say about Elizabeth Warren. She's right he'll knock us into the dirt. She's right about quit a lot. Us being her and her dreams of a ... whatever it is she dreams about, Trump will crush those dreams into the dirt. And not just regular Massachusetts dirt; reservation dirt.

Here is what is puzzling about Trump's attacks on Elizabeth Warren so far. In my view, Trump has not latched onto the element that is most offensive to conservatives because he isn't thinking as conservative here. So far Trump has lodged mere adolescent ad hominem where Elizabeth Warren's offense is in taking the spot for academic inclusion intended for and marked out for genuine American native people who grew up under hardship presumably but not necessarily on a reservation, and definitely not intended for a white person with mere traces of native genetic makeup and with no such hardship in their experience. She took a real native's place.

The left forgives her for all of that, their ingrained racism set aside momentarily because Elizabeth Warren makes such a splendid attack animal. That's pretty much all that we hear from her. They like that and it's why Elizabeth Warren exists instead of being crushed by the same political correctness that crushes everything else.

Let's open the Google video tab for [elizabeth warren, hillary clinton] and see them onstage together in live action.

WNDReaction to threatening comments from President Obama’s U.S. attorney in Idaho following the release of two Muslim boys accused of sexually assaulting a 5-year-old girl have been swift and severe.

Wendy J. Olson, the U.S. attorney for Idaho, indicated in a statement Friday that Idahoans who spread “false or inflammatory information” about the alleged Muslim perpetrators may be subject to prosecution. The boys accused are ages 14, 10 and 7, and their families have been evicted from the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls, where the assault allegedly took place.

The two older boys are immigrants from Sudan and the youngest is from Iraq. They are believed to be refugees but the government has yet to say exactly how they entered the country, only that they have come “within the last two years.”

The Olson statement that is drawing fire from First Amendment advocates is as follows:
“The spread of false information or inflammatory or threatening statements about the perpetrators or the crime itself reduces public safety and may violate federal law.”
She made the comment after some websites published erroneous information that the girl was “gang raped” at “knifepoint” by “Syrian refugees.”

"Gowdy releases Benghazi committee final report"

Washington Examiner:   Gowdy’s findings questioned the administration’s dubious reasons for placing diplomatic personnel in Benghazi despite clear and consistent warnings of violence in the area.

The temporary mission in Benghazi was on the road to becoming a permanent facility in the fall of 2012, when Stevens and a skeleton security team headed to the coastal Libyan city to prepare the announcement of a lasting U.S. presence there.

According to the committee’s report, U.S. officials had reported an “increase in extremist activity” in June 2012 as other Western powers in the area withdrew their people out of concern for their safety.

Other investigations had detailed the string of attacks in Libya that preceded the Benghazi raid, but none had exposed the motivations behind Stevens’ activities in the region, laying the groundwork for an upcoming visit from Clinton, where she hoped to announce the establishment of a permanent diplomatic post in Benghazi. "Federal Judge: U.S. Constitution Is Outdated, Judges Should Stop Studying It"

According to 7th Circuit Judge Richard Posner in a post published to Slate, U.S. judges should stop studying the Constitution.
I see absolutely no value to a judge of spending decades, years, months, weeks, day, hours, minutes, or seconds studying the Constitution, the history of its enactment, its amendments, and its implementation,” Posner argued.
“Eighteenth-century guys, however smart, could not foresee the culture, technology, etc., of the 21st century,” he continued. “Which means that the original Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the post–Civil War amendments (including the 14th), do not speak to today.”
The deliberations of the Constitutional Convention of 1787 were held in strict secrecy. Consequently, anxious citizens gathered outside Independence Hall when the proceedings ended in order to learn what had been produced behind closed doors. The answer was provided immediately. A Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin, “Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?” With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded, “A republic, if you can keep it.”

'Racist' Pool Safety Poster: Red Cross Alopologizes

NBCA Red Cross Hospital signboard that carried a "super racist" message about swim safety guidelines for children prompted an apology from the hospital on Tuesday.

The dialogue opened on Twitter after a photo circulated of the poster in Fort Morgan, Colorado. The poster, which has since been taken down, read at the top: "Be Cool, Follow the Rules." Below the heading were depictions of children playing. The white children were labeled as behaving "cool" while children of color were depicted as misbehaving, or "not cool," for breaking pool safety rules.

Red Cross has since confirmed that it has discontinued the production of the poster and has already removed it from the hospital's website and Swim App.

Marilyn's Diary

Aunt Lily really stated to lose it after Uncle Herman left us. She was always a night owl and she always had many gentlemen callers. They had an open marriage after all because you can lose the magic if you have been married for 571 years.  So it wasn't unusual for me to come home after a date at the diner where we had milkshakes to find Aunt Lily entertaining friends in a sort of risquĆ© way. Well to tell the truth....she would be having an orgy.

I was young and dumb and sometimes I would join right in. You see there was no interruptions. Grandpa was usually down in his coffin with Sandy Koufax and that little shit Cousin Eddie was running around the neighborhood peeping in windows so it was just a free  for all.

I remember several epic nights. There was the time that advertising executive came with his hot French actress wife. Boy was he handsome. Then there was this guy Ken who had really good drugs. I came home to find Aunt Lily cavorting with them after they all came on a bus. But one night I had to draw a line.

"Supreme Court Strikes Down Strict Texas Abortion Law"

NBC News:  The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday struck down one of the nation's toughest restrictions on abortion, a Texas law that women's groups said would have forced more than three-quarters of the state's clinics to shut down.

The decision was 5-3.

Passed in 2013, the law said clinics providing abortion services must meet the same building standards as ambulatory surgical centers. And it required doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals.

Since the law was passed, the number of clinics providing abortion services in Texas dropped to 19 from 42. Opponents said that number would fall to ten if the Supreme Court upheld the law.

gay parades

That's oxymoronic some places this year. Democrats, must you ruin everything? Must everything become Democrat caucus with you?

Misinformed, mal-informed displaced hate. Hillary walked a few blocks in this parade. Twitters I read are asking if she agrees. Others fixed the sign for them in Photoshop, but nobody in that crowd is listening.

New York

Would you like Republicans behaving similarly to this observed public behavior, and with no guessing as to motive and with no psychological projection? Would you like a big banner placing blame squarely where it belongs? Would you like that marring your parade?  Would you like another banner like this one saying you ruin everything you touch, even to making a gay parade politically unhappy?

Turkey

Yahoo has a slideshow about Turkey police letting loose with rubber bullets on gay pride parade that was banned in Istanbul. They are interesting photographs, a good slideshow, not an ad generator. You see the city and the people and the spent rubber bullets. The city is old and interesting and made colorful and bright and happy and the people themselves are flamboyant. One man has dangling earrings, I thought they would be Muslim symbol of moon, like a charm, but it turned out to be a tiny hammer and sickle earring, and he is shown wearing rainbow knitted hat.

Everything I just wrote about Dems and being unhappy does not apply to Denver's gay parade.  LGBT 2016 Colorado Pride Fest video. This was June 19th, last weekend.  Denver gays that parade have body types that look like they're from Wisconsin. They're also older than you might imagine. At least 50% of them are heavier, much heavier, and generally older than the music goers photographed yesterday.

What Conservative Card is in your Wallet?

George Will has decided to prove that he is a conservative by voting for Hillary Clinton. From Breitbart:

“On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” Washington Post columnist George Will explained why he left the Republican Party over presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Will said, “I left it for the same reason I joined it in 1964 when I voted for Barry Goldwater, because I was a conservative. I leave for the same reason, I’m a conservative. To give you a time line, shortly after Trump became the presumptive nominee he had a summit meeting with Paul Ryan where they stressed their vast shared ground, which is more important than their differences. I thought that was puzzling because Paul Ryan still didn’t endorse him. After Trump went after the Mexican judge, then Paul Ryan endorsed him. I decided that, in fact, this is not my party anymore. I changed my registration to unaffiliated 23 days ago. I hardly made an announcement. I mentioned this in a meeting with the Federalist Society. The long and the short of it is, as Ronald Reagan said when he changed his registration, I did not leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me.””
So he is the kind of conservative who abandons his party when his guy isn’t selected. When the voters of his party choose someone other than one approved by the establishment like McCain or Romney. The kind of conservative like Paul Ryan who is favor of open unrestricted borders. Of importing more Islamic terrorists and their enablers. Who surrenders to Obama’s agenda because there is nothing they can do. So he quits.

That keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around
(So come on)

Another promise, another scene,
Another package lie to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined
(So come on)

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious
(So come on)

Community Policing!

New York Post June 26, 2016
Two cops treated to mile-high sex on a free chartered plane ride as part of an alleged NYPD bribery racket should be fired, the hooker at the center of the scandal said.
“I know for a fact that they have hired people before,” Gabi Grecko, 27, said Saturday of the two cops she was paid to “entertain” while dressed as a stewardess on a 2013 pleasure trip to Las Vegas.
“They hired maybe five escorts the second night we were there,” she said of Deputy Inspector James Grant, who has been stripped of his gun and badge, and since-fired Detective Michael Milici, who isn’t charged in the scandal.

Both cops are married with kids.
“For those police to be up [in rank] so high and yet doing things that are illegal, and not only the things they did with me, but just the widespread things that I have heard, I mean, definitely they should lose their jobs,” Grecko said.
“If you want to be a police officer you are obviously vowing to a set of rules, so yeah."

Brexit to Candelford.

Lately we have been having a lot of elder care issues that leave us exhausted, anxious, stressed and sort of depressed. So at the end of the night we like to catch a show that is mindless gentle entertainment. That takes us to another place and time divorced from our present reality. The best of those shows has proven to be “Larkrise to Candleford.” Available on Amazon Prime it tells the story of two villages in England at the end of the 19th Century. It is a very soothing program with a gentle tone that lets you relax and forget for a while as you get engrossed in the problems and travails of rural village life. Something totally different from our urbanized information culture.

But you know me. I have to make everything political. It is all a big meataphor.

You're a burglar, but instead of stealing things you do things to confuse or annoy your victims. What do you do?

26 Sit-In Democrats Are Gun Owners

Fox InsiderAfter congressional Democrats ended their day-long sit-in on the House floor in a push for a vote on two pieces of gun control legislation, it has emerged that 26 of those Democratic lawmakers are gun owners themselves.
Heat Street examined 2013 USA Today data on congressional firearm ownership, finding that in addition to the 26 gun owners, there were 12 more congressional Democrats who did not answer if they owned a firearm or not.
The sit-in centered on two pieces of proposed gun legislation, one for expanded background checks and one for restricting gun sales to terror suspects.
By "terror suspects" they are talking about the no-fly list, which has been widely reported to be fraught with errors. (h/t MH)

Westword music festival, Denver, June 25, 2016

I must say first, the music is very good.

They're running things a little bit differently this year. Normally I'd be hearing the clanging of hollow aluminum tubes. I guess that'll be tomorrow. Things started off slowly then built up over the day. People kept pouring in from all directions. Music stages are set up at a couple parking lots within a block area and inside a few clubs on Broadway.

It rained. People scattered to the edges then came right back out to the center of things high and dry unfazed.

Music is heard for blocks around very loudly all day. The bands play through past nightfall ending around 10:00. People are cleaning up outside now.

Would you like to see a lot of pictures of people? They all have interest in music in common.

Brexit and the EU

I don't know if any of you are familiar at all with Sargon of Akkad.  He does gamer gate and social issue related video commentary, generally, and presents himself as an atheist valuing reason and facts over feelings and narratives. Here he talks about voting for Brexit.  Now I had never really paid much attention to how the EU is set up, how it's ruled.  Beyond mocking the thickness of its "constitution" it really isn't relevant to my life.  Sargon describes the functioning of the EU governing body.  I was pretty shocked, if he's even slightly accurate and no reason to think he's not, that anyone would let themselves be ruled with those parameters.

It's time to fire up the grill

I have a new back yard. We have been fixing it up gradually and now it is just about right. Not much of a view but the prevailing winds keep it nice and cool at night. Unfortunately we are close to the Gowanus Canal so we have to worry about mosquitos. I have sprayed and planted some natural remedies in that certain plants keep mosquitos away. Citronella. Lavender. Lemon grass. We put pots with these plants all around. Have a bunch of lanterns and chandeliers with citronella candles. Make sure there is no standing water for them to breed.

We enjoy the yard first thing in the morning for coffee. We sit out there and relax before we start the day. The days are long enough that we get to grill when we get home. That works out pretty great.

"Men Did Greater Things When It Was Harder To See Boobs"

"To make America great again we may need to make seeing boobs rare again."
While some have made the case that Kim Kardashian and her friend Emily Ratajkowski have made boobs boring, breasts are in fact so potent that they may be hastening our decline. Breasts and female nudity have always been eye-catching to positively distracting, depending on your sex. The sheer boobitude immediately available either through online porn, Kardashian’s Twitter feed, and Tinder (otherwise known as Uber for boobs) has rapidly accelerated to the point that men have stopped creating because there’s so few obstacles to seeing them.
Perhaps you scoff and say highbrow Western art since the middle ages has featured images and imagery of the female breast. That may just be the point. They had to undertake significant effort to present images of the female breast, as opposed to a Tumblr of boobs or the www.giant.woowwwzz.com that is available in one click. Further, take note that the prime age for invention used to be one’s early twenties; often, scientists and other folks were not as productive in later decades.
Now, that is often not the case: “There’s a boom in inventions by people over 50,” John Calvert, executive director of the United Inventors Association, told the New York Times. “Over 60 percent of the association’s members are older, he added, so they also have more time for inventing.”

Vox Day talks about "Quintessential Cuckservatism"

Vox Popoli June 25, 2016 by Vox Day
Rod Dreher demonstrates the effete and useless nature of modern conservatism:
The Speaker of the House of Representatives was shouted down by Democratic Congressman as he attempted to regain control of the House of Representatives. Actual US Congressmen behaving like a bunch of giddy Oberlin undergraduates.

They had better not give in. Look, on gun control matters, I am generally — generally — more sympathetic to Democrats than to Republicans. But this mob insurrection on the House floor is profoundly unsettling. I have not looked closely at the legislation, so it is entirely possible that I might support the Democratic proposal. But to attempt to get one’s way by showing utter contempt for rules of the House? No. No, no, no. Their passion does not justify their behavior.

This country is in trouble.
